I am an integrative supervisor of individuals and groups. I work from a predominantly Person Centred and Experiential foundation and have also completed trainings in Mindfulness, CBT skills and eating disorders.
I take a strongly collaborative approach to supervision and believe that a good supervisory relationship is vital to the work of all counsellors. I use a context based approach to supervision, informed by the BACP Ethical Framework. I use a relational approach which looks at the supervisee, client, supervisor triad to inform practice and to understand process in supervision and therapy.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2004 and have a Master's in Counselling from the University of East Anglia where I worked from 2006 - 2015 as Educational Counsellor and subsequently Deputy Director of the University Counselling Service.
I have been supervising trainee counsellors and psychotherapists since 2006. From 2015, I also started supervising qualified therapists and groups. I have a Diploma in Integrative Supervision of Individuals and Groups from The Grove Practice, London and I am a senior accredited member of BACP. I am also a lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy and provide academic supervision for undergraduate and Master's dissertations.
I use a supervision contract which I send to supervisees prior to the first session. We will discuss the contract and any other contractual issues (times, frequency, payment) in the first session. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and to decide whether we will be a good fit for working together. If you are a trainee counsellor, we will also discuss any administrative requirements of me as your supervisor.
Please note, due to teaching commitments, I am unable to privately supervise students from Birmingham City University.
